A DESCRIPTION: there was once a time in david's life where he didn't have to steal to survive; where he was a happy, optimistic child unaware of the real world. he learned the harsh truth early on, as his life took a bittern turn for the worse. if he tried, david could remember every specific detail of his early life. his memory is almost photographic, but there are things he doesn't want to remember. if something is bad enough, even people with the clearest past would shove it to the back of their head. and that's just was david did. you see, david was born an accident; his parents never meant to have him. they couldn't afford to get rid of him early on, and they were too greedy to give him away to a more able family. at first, his mother loved him, or perhaps just the thought of having a child excited her. his father ignored him from the start. at first, they thought david was just a late bloomer, however, when he was able to do third-grade math at the age of five and still couldn't speak, they knew something was off with their kid. they soon found out david was mute from birth; some sort of mutation that had cursed him even before he had been born. and that's when the abuse started. it was only words at first, telling him what a waste of space he was and how they should dump him in the streets for being worthless. then the physical abuse started; it eventually grew to the point where david would skin school so he didn't have to make up excuses. he slowly became introverted and a pushover, letting his parents do whatever they wanted to him. after a while, he was nothing more than a punching bag.
it wasn't until david was eight that things changed drastically. his parents stuck true to their word and threw him into the streets. when david tried to return home days later, they were gone. he was on his own now. for days, he silently cried and pitied himself. eventually, an old and homeless woman found him and took him under her wing. he stay with her for about three years, and eventually realized he wouldn't get anywhere if he was always pitying himself. he began to go to local libraries to study, not willing to let himself lose the knowledge. however, she too vanished when he was eleven. after that, he lived on his own, just trying to live in the streets of venice. he basically made a living by stealing everything from food to clothes. when he was thirteen, he ran into a girl just a year younger than him. though communication was difficult, david felt an instant connection with her. honestly, david found himself with a crush on the girl that only grew larger every year. eventually, the two found themselves among several other companions, almost like a gang of sorts, and all taking care of each other.
nowadays, david is actually quite intelligent. it seems like sneaking into libraries really payed off. while he is normally a serious person who thinks things through, he knows how to have fun. he enjoys sneaking into parties and messing with people. david is incredibly loyal and protective over his friends; he would rather die than let them get hurt.
